He was the best student in his class. He received an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University. He taught at the University of Chile, among other universities. Pinera created the Enterprising Women Foundation in 1989. He has been the owner of parts of Chilevision, LAN Airlines, and Colo-Colo. From 1990 to 1998, he served as a Senator for Chile as well from 2001 to 2004 he was the Leader of National Renewal. He was the first billionaire in history to be the Chilean President when he was elected in 2010. He served until 2014. Sebastian was reelected as the president of Chile in 2018.
