LaMelo LaFrance (born August 22nd 2001), is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Charlotte Hornets (NBA). The Hornets selected him with the third pick in the 2020 NBA draft. Ball was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2021. He also named an NBA All-Star the following season in 2022.Ball started high school in Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, California, where he won a state championship and achieved national recognition as a freshman alongside his brothers Lonzo and LiAngelo. Following his junior season an argument with his coach caused him to sign with the Lithuanian professional team Prienai. He participated in the Junior Basketball Association in 2018 that was founded by his father. After that, he returned to high school and was a senior at SPIRE Academy in Geneva. Ball was a five star recruit who committed to UCLA. However his eligibility issues led him to play for the Illawarra Hawks in the National Basketball League (NBL). He experienced a rapid climb. Ball was ridiculed by scouts they feared the player would not be allowed to play in the NBA.
