Michael Oher was born in Memphis, Tennessee on May 28th in 1986. Oher was the son of Denise Oher, who was an addict to crack cocaine and alcohol as well as a father named Michael Jerome Williams, who was frequently in jail. He was never disciplined or given the attention he needed because of his upbringing. He went to 11 different schools during his primary nine years of school, and repeated the first and second grade. He was placed in foster care at age seven and was able to alternate between various foster homes and periods of being homeless. Oher's biological father, a former cellmate, Denise Oher's brother was executed in prison when Oher was still in high school. When he was 16 years old, Sean Tuohy was able to get Michael Oher in and Leigh Anne Tuohy became Oher's mother.
