Karen Sheila Gillan (/'gIl@n/; born 28 November 1987) is an actress from Scotland. Scottish actress. Her work in British films and television brought her fame, particularly for her role as Amy Pond, the primary character of the Eleventh Doctor in Doctor Who (2010-2013), where she was nominated and won numerous awards. Her film debuts include Ally in the thriller film Outcast (2010) and Jane Lockhart in the romantic comedy film Not Another Happy Ending (2013). She also appeared on stage while in Britain as she appeared in John Osborne's play Evidence (2011) before making her Broadway debut in the show Time to Act (2013).Gillan made her transition to Hollywood playing Kaylie Russell in the film horror Oculus (2013) and was her first commercial success in the United States, and thereafter was the lead character in the sitcom Selfie (2014).
