Dolly Rebecca Parton, born on January 19, 1946 was an American singer-songwriter and actress. She is also a philanthropist, actress, businesswoman, and a an philanthropist. Her involvement in country music is her primary area of focus. Parton's success as a songwriter led her to release her first album in 1967 with Hello, I'm Dolly. It was followed by a run of great success throughout the 1960s both as an artist on her own as well as with the series she recorded with Porter Wagoner, before she hit her peak in sales in the 1970s and continued through the 1980s. Parton's albums in the 1990s were not as successful similarly, however she rediscovered commercial success after the turn of the millennium. She has released albums through various independent labels since 2000 as well as her own label, Dolly Records. Parton has sold over 100 million albums around the globe. Her music includes Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA-certified platinum, gold and multi-platinum award-winning tracks. 25 of her songs have reached the top. 1 on the Billboard country music charts, which is the highest for a female artist (tied with Reba McEntire). The singer has scored 44 Top 10 Country Albums in her career, which is a record for any artist. She also has had 110 chart-topping singles in the past 40 years.
