 William Michael Zabka (/'zaebk@/; born October 20, 1965) is an American actor. He is well-known for his role as Johnny Lawrence in The Karate Kid (1984), The Karate Kid Part II (1986) and the television series Cobra Kai (2018-present). He was nominated in 2004 for the Academy Award for producing and co-writing the short film Most.Zabka was a New York City native, the son and daughter of Stan Zabka (a director, composer, writer and director). He is the elder brother and sister of a brother. His father was born in Des Moines, Iowa of Czech descent; he was assistant director of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson during the initial two years of Carson's presidency, and was also a production manager for a variety of motion pictures which included the Chuck Norris film Forced Vengeance (1982).During the 1980s, Zabka appeared in the comedy movies Just One of the Guys (1985) and Back to School (1986). Zabka was also a co-star in The Equalizer, starring as the son and title character (1986-1989). Zabka also played Jack the jock's boyfriend of Audrey, in National Lampoon's European Vacation (1985). In the following years, he attempted to escape his role as a class bully.
