"Michael Anthony Strahan" was born in Houston on November 21, 1971. Strahan is the youngest of the six children of Louise and Gene Willie Strahan. When Strahan was nine years old, his family moved to the Army base in Mannheim, West Germany. Mannheim American High School was where Strahan was a regular football player. It is an U.S. Department of Defense Dependent High School. In the summer between his junior and senior year of high school, his dad took him back to Houston to live with his uncle Art, a former NFL player, so he could play football in the fall semester. Strahan was given a football scholarship by Texas Southern University.
