John McEnroe was conceived John Patrick McEnroe Jr. in Wiesbaden (West Germany) on the 16th of February 1959. John's parents were American and he was living in Germany with his father, who was stationed at the U.S. Air Force. When McEnroe was a child the family relocated to Newburgh, New York's Stewart Air Force Base, and later moved to Flushing, Queens, in 1961, and Douglaston in 1963. John's father later left the Air Force and worked as an advertising agent during the day and went to Fordham Law School at night.
