Bilbo

 Bilbo Baggins is the title character and the protagonist of J. R. R. Tolkien's 1937 novel The Hobbit, a supporting character in The Lord of the Rings as well as the fictional Narrator (along with Frodo Baggins) of many of Tolkien's Middle-earth writings. Gandalf selects the Hobbit to aid Thorin and his group of Dwarves with reclaiming their ancestral home and their treasure which was stolen by the dragon Smaug. The Hobbit's Bilbo is a shy, comfort-loving young man who starts out in The Hobbit, but grows to become a highly resourceful and useful participant in the quest. This isn't compatible with the more traditional realm of Dwarves and Elves. Tolkien appears to have created Bilbo on William Morris's travels in Iceland. Morris enjoyed his comforts but learned from his adventures. Bilbo's quest has been interpreted as a journey of grace, in which he grows in virtue and wisdom and also as a quest to wholeness.Bilbo has appeared in numerous versions of film and radio of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings as well as in video games based on them.
