 Here we go again. A certain publication posted an enthralling and exciting article entitled "From Poor as Hell to Billionaire: How Tyler Perry Changed Show Business Forever." We have a problem with only one word in that sentence and that is billionaire. Tyler Perry is an incredibly wealthy man and he did revolutionize the business of television forever. But, he's not the world's richest person. We have all the faith in the world that he will become within the next few years however, for the moment and we'll explain the net worth of his assets in the coming days, it is $800 million.Perry grew up poor in New Orleans and got his first stage work as playwright. He was a car owner throughout his time because he was unable to pay rent when his plays made money. He eventually took his show on tour, literally and performed shows in small theaters across the country , mostly in communities of black. Oprah Winfrey first saw his performance "I Know That I've Been Changed" at the time it was stopped in Los Angeles. She described the experience as "... "I wasn't just moved by it but also transformed by the experience." This was 2001, and Hollywood wasn't sure what to do about Perry. Hollywood did not target primarily people of color.
