Patti LaBelle

 Patti LaBelle is a prolific singer, actress and businesswoman who is worth a net of $ 60 million. Patti LaBelle first became famous by the group Patti LaBelle and the Blue Belles. Her success was then matched by her own career as well as an actress on TV. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, May 24 1944. She has four siblings and is the daughter of Henry and Bertha Holte. Her father was railroad worker and a club performer, while her mother was a domestic helper. When she reached the age of twelve, old the couple divorced. LaBelle started singing when she was 10 years old. She was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church choir and performed her first solo just two years after. At the age of 16 and attending John Bartram High School she was crowned the winner of the school's talent competition. In 1960, she and her classmates created the Ordettes singing group. They became a very popular group and were asked to audition for Harold Robinson, the local record label's owner. Robinson was a signer for the group and had them record under the Blue Belles name.
