Lord

It is a testament to the genius and prolificity of the British poet Alfred Lord Tennyson that Alfred Lord Tennyson ranks as the 9th most quoted author in the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations. Poet in the position of Laureate of Great Britain and Ireland during most of the reign of Queen Victoria, he was by far one of the most well-known poets during the Victorian time. Tennyson was a young genius and his early love of writing cemented his destiny to come into the future. However, fame and recognition was not easy for the talented and creative man. Tennyson was called an obscure poet in his initial days as a poet. He was dejected and did not write poems for the next nine years. The fourth decade of the 19th century turned Tennyson's fate and thus marked the beginning of a legacy. In 1850, Tennyson's 'In Memoriam,' became the most important work of his career. The career of the writer reached new heights, and Tennyson was regarded as a successor to William Wordsworth. The book also contains some of Tennyson's most well-known phrases, which have now become standard throughout the English Languages.
