Kendrick Lamar Duckworth (born on the 17th of June, 1987) is an American musician and rapper. He is well-known for his unique music style and his socially conscious songwriting. Lamar was born in Compton, California and began his professional career as K.Dot as a teenager. The rapper quickly gained attention in the local scene and eventually signed a recording contract with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) in 2005.After becoming a founder member of the hip hop supergroup Black Hippy, Lamar dropped his stage name and started using his middle and initial names professionally. His first studio album Section.80 was released in the year 2011. It's an conscious hip-hop album. The album received positive reviews and included the debut single "HiiiiPower". Lamar signed a record contract with Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment in 2012 and released his second studio album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City.
