 Stephen Anthony Smith (born 14 October 1967) is an American sports television personality, sports radio host, as well as a sports journalist. Smith is a sports commentator on ESPN's First Take, where he appears with Molly Qerim. Smith also appears frequently as an NBA analyst on SportsCenter. Smith is also an NBA analyst for ESPN in addition to being a broadcaster for ESPN's NBA broadcasts. Smith also hosts The Stephen A. Smith Show on ESPN Radio. Smith is a regular columnist for ESPNNY.com, ESPN.com, and The Philadelphia Inquirer.Stephen Anthony Smith was born in the Bronx, a borough within New York City. Smith was born in the Queens' Hollis area. Smith is the sixth of six children. Smith is the oldest of four siblings and an older brother named Basil who died in a crash in 1992. There is also one half-brother who is on the father's side. Smith's parents hail from Saint Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. His father ran a hardware store. Smith's maternal grandmother was white and was his great-grandmother. His parents were black. Smith graduated in 1986 from Thomas Edison High School in Queens.
