Sharon Vonne Stone (born March 10, 1958) is an American actress. She is known for her role as femme fatales and mystery women on television and in films, she was one of the most recognizable icons of sex in the 1990s. Stone has won numerous awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Stone received an honorary star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame 1995 and was appointed Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters France in 2005 (Commander in 2021). Stone also played her first part in Wes Craven's horror film Deadly Blessing (1981). The 1980s saw Stone appeared in such films as Irreconcilable Differences (1984), King Solomon's Mines (1985), Cold Steel (1987), and Above the Law (1988). Her role in Paul Verhoeven’s science-fiction action film Total Recall was a major breakthrough.
