George Harvey Strait Sr. was born on May 18th, 1952. He is an American musician, singer and actor. Strait is frequently called the "King of Country", and is a well-known musician, singer and songwriter, actor and music producer from the United America. The first single he released, "Unwound," was released in 1981. It marked the beginning of the rise of the neotraditional genre. The 1980s saw seven albums from Strait topped the charts for country music. Strait was awarded his first Grammy Award for his album Troubadour in 2000. He was also named Artist of the Decade at the Academy of Country Music. Strait has been the CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1989 as well as 1990 as well as in 2013. He also received the ACM Entertainer of the Year award in 1990 and in 2014. Strait has received more ACM and CMA awards than any other artist, and has been nominated for more awards.
