Angie

"Angie" is a hit song by the English rock band The Rolling Stones, featured on their 1973 album Goats Head Soup. It also was the lead single on the album, which debuted on August 20, 1973. The track is credited, as many Rolling Stones songs are, to both Mick Jagger and Keith Richards however, it is believed to be almost completely written by Richards as well as Jagger writing some of the lyrics. "Angie" was recorded in November and December of 1972. It is an acoustic-driven ballad that focuses on the end of a romance. The distinctive piano accompaniment, written by Richards and performed on the album by Nicky Hopkins, a Rolling Stones recording-session regular. Nicky Harrison arranged the strings for the song and also "Winter" in his arrangement. An unusual feature of the original recording is that vocalist Mick Jagger's vocal guide track (made prior to the time that the vocals are performed) can be heard in a faint manner throughout the track (an effect often referred to as a "ghost vocal").
