angie

"Angie" is a hit song from the English rock group The Rolling Stones, featured on their 1973 album Goats Head Soup. It also served as the album's lead single album, which debuted on 20 August 1973.The song is credited, like many Rolling Stones songs are, to both Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, but it is acknowledged to be almost completely written by Richards and Richards, with Jagger providing some of the lyrics. "Angie" is a guitar-driven ballad, was recorded between November 1972 and December 1972. It depicts the ending of a relationship. The unique piano accompaniment, composed by Richards who composed it, was performed on the album by Nicky Hopkins, a Rolling Stones session regular. Nicky Harrison arranged the strings for the song, as well as "Winter" as part of his arrangement. The most interesting aspect of the original recording is that Mick Jagger's vocal track which was recorded before the final vocals were recorded it is not even heard during the song. This is commonly known as a ghost voice. Cash Box said that "Jagger is at his best-slurring words by the dozens to convey the meaning of every note."
