Amy Lou Adams (born August 20, 1974) is an American actress. Her fame is based on her comedic and dramatic roles. She has been included three times in the annual ranking of the top-paid actresses across the world. Her achievements include two Golden Globe Awards and nominations for six Academy Awards and seven British Academy Film Awards. She made her film debut in Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999), where she played in a part in a supporting role. Her first role of note was in Steven Spielberg's biopic Catch Me If You Can (2002), but she was laid off for an entire year following. Her breakthrough came in 2005 when she portrayed the witty and pregnant character in Junebug (2005). The unorthodox comedy-drama earned her the first Academy Award nomination.
