America's Store (AS) began in the year 1988, as Home Shopping Club Overnight Service that aired on television stations around the US between midnight to 9 AM and, in particular, on WWOR-TV from 3 am to 6 am within the New York City metro area. HSN started offering the Home Shopping Service 24 hours per day in 1989 following the purchase of a couple of low-power stations. The title of the channel was again changed in 1997 to America's Jewelry Store, to reflect the shift towards selling jewelry. After some limited satisfaction with this model, HSN expanded the inventory across all categories, and eliminated the word "jewelry" from its title. AS was added to the DirecTV lineup in 2003. HSN's low-power stations were throughout the major cities, including the World Trade Center. QVC's competitor Q2 was its own spin-off, dubbed Q2, which only lasted two years, from 1994 to 1996. Following Barry Diller's exit from QVC and the purchase of HSN, many former Q2 employees migrated to HSN and America's Store.
