Virginia woolf

Adeline Virginia Woolf (/wUlf/; born Stephen 25 January 1882 until 28 March 1941) was an English writer who was considered to be to be one of the greatest contemporary 20th century authors. She was also an early pioneer in using stream of consciousness as an narrative device.Woolf was born into a wealthy household in South Kensington, London, the seventh child of Julia Prinsep Jackson and Leslie Stephen in a blended family of eight that included the modernist artist Vanessa Bell. She was taught at home in English classics as well as Victorian literature from a young age. Between 1897 and 1901, she was a student at the Ladies' Department at King's College London, where she was a student of classics and historical studies and came into contact with early reformers of women's high education as well as the women's rights movement.Encouraged by her father, Woolf began writing professionally in 1900. Following the death of her father in 1904 The Stephen family relocated from Kensington to more bohemian Bloomsbury and, conjunction with their intellectual friends, they formed the artistic and literary Bloomsbury Group. Leonard Woolf married her in 1912 and the couple founded the Hogarth Press in 1917. The Hogarth Press published a lot of Woolf's work.
