Disney is celebrating 20 years of The Lion King by revealing numbers that confirm it as the top-earning franchise in box-office history.Disney announced that the most recent reported cumulative box office of the stage version is $9.1 billion (yes it's an b for billion). Add in the films and the figure reaches some $11.6 billion, which is the highest ever recorded for a stage and screen title.This number for theaters - that was released on the 28th of October to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the show in London's West End and upcoming 22nd anniversary on Broadway in New York - only does not include the main two films' gross.
