 The story is set in the final days of the Ottoman Empire, The Promise tells the story of a love triangle that involves Michael, a brilliant medical student, the gorgeous and sophisticated Ana Ana, as well as Chris who is a well-known American journalist from Paris.The film is the story of Michael (Oscar Isaac) who is a young Armenian who hopes to study medical school. Michael travels to Constantinople to study and is greeted by Ana (Charlotte Le Bon), an Armenian woman who is in love with her. However, Chris Bale, an American photographer sent to Turkey to capture the first genocide of the 20th century, during which the Turks killed Armenia's minorities, is also there. War's horrors form a love triangle. I chose to see this film partly because it has strong actors in the lead and partly because I'm a history buff. However, it became clear that this film vehicle is not even remotely suitable for their talents as actors. It was at times painful to see how difficult it was for them to inject any authenticity or life to their characters. It is extremely difficult to feel emotionally connected with characters who do not seem real.
