Cheech Chong

 Cheech & Chong are a comedy duo that consists of Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong.The duo found commercial and cultural success in the 1970s and 1980s through their stand-up routines, studio recordings, and feature films, all of which were based on the free-love and hippie period, as well as the counterculture and drug-related movements, including their passion for cannabis.The duo first met in Vancouver, British Columbia, in the latter half of the 1960s. Chong was Canadian and Cheech was from California during the Vietnam War. Cheech and Chong performed stand-up performances, released many hit comedy records and also appeared in a series of low-budget movies. The most well-known songs and routines are "Earache My Eye", "Basketball Jones", "Santa Claus and His Old Lady", and "Sister Mary Elephant". The most well-known line is "Dave's not here" which is from their self-titled debut album.Their early success culminated in the release of their first film, a feature length one, Up in Smoke, in the year 1978. It was an icon of the genre, and was also successful enough at the box office (grossing more than $44 million, despite having a small budget)
