 Although the Bible is where the expression "money is the cause of all evil" is found, churches are still an effective way to earn a profit. This is especially true for "megachurches" such as the Southern Baptist Elevation Church based in Charlotte, North Carolina, which is said to collect half a million dollars per weekend in donations from attendees in the congregation alone. However, unlike other churches, where the same congregation members make the decisions regarding finances and other operations the worshippers of Elevation Church have had no involvement, and in fact don't know how much the head pastor Steven Furtick makes in a given year.Furtick's personal finances have been being a source of controversy lately, as the pastor recently gave his first public interview in seven years to the Charlotte TV station. He was uncompromising in his decision to not reveal the details of his personal finances, such as his salary to the church. Furtick said that he believes he must "have integrity" in his private life as a man of God and it's not necessary to reveal specific details.
