Whoopi Goldberg

 Caryn Elaine Johnson, born November 13, 1955, is an American comedian actress, author, and TV personality. She was awarded the Mark Twain Prize in American Humor in 2001. Goldberg started her stage career with her one-woman show Spook Show. It was later transferred to Broadway under the name Whoopi Goldberg and ran from 1984 until. Goldberg was awarded an Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album for the recording of the show. Her breakthrough role in film was in 1985, when she played Celie as a woman who is mistreated in the Deep South in Steven Spielberg’s period drama film The Color Purple. She received the Golden Globe Award as Best Actress in Motion Picture Drama.
