Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, IPA: /.fraendZI’pa:ni/FRAN-jih–PAH-nee, born September 29 1994) is also popularly referred to as Halsey (/’ho:lzi/ HAWL–zee), an American musician and singer. She was born in New Jersey and raised there. Attracting attention for her self-released music on social media platforms, she was signed by Astralwerks in 2014 and debuted her debut EP Room 93, later that year. Badlands was her first studio album. Badlands, her debut album on the studio, was released in 2015. Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, her second studio album was more accessible to radio than her previous releases. Its songs "Now or Never" and "Bad at Love" were among the top 20 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. The former reached the top five.
